Once something is created, it will be destroyed; it is an inevitable consequence forever. Just as an organism dies when it is born, so it will decay or perish if something is created. At every moment in every corner of the endless space, just as the stars are being created according to the laws of nature, the stars are being destroyed along with its planetary system. About 1,380 crore years ago from today, the universe was created by a cosmic event known as the Big Bang. In this cycle of creation and destruction, this universe will come to an end. Scientists, especially cosmologists, are interested in this. They are trying to predict the inevitable event of the future, creating different models by bringing together the formulas of physics with the complex and difficult calculations of mathematics. Different possibilities of destiny of our universe have been discussed at different times in this regard. Today we will try to understand another possible situation. Our topic today is the Big Rip.
A
group of scientists led by Robert Caldwell, a theoretical physicist at the
University of Dartmouth in New Hampshire, USA, was the first to make the Big
Rip model public. The model was later refined in 2003 by Marcelo Diskonzi, a
professor of mathematics at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, and Thomas
Kephart and Robert Scherrer, professors of physics.
According
to this model, objects in this universe (such as nebulae, galaxies, various
types of stars, and planetary systems of stars, meteors, comets, cosmic dust,
and even space-time) will eventually disintegrate into molecules, atoms, and
subatomic particles. (Space-time: This is a mathematical model where
a unit has been created by combining space and time and with the help of it,
explanations of many cosmic events have been possible.) This separation
will continue until an infinite distance is created between the subatomic
particles produced by cosmic matter. But there is a condition here. The
accuracy of what is being assumed through this model depends on the type of
Dark Energy. (Here is the link to know more about Dark Energy: https://spacejagat.blogspot.com/2021/10/dark-energy-master-of-universe.html )
Of
the many types of Dark Energy that are thought to be most responsible for this
phenomenon is Phantom Energy. The amount of this energy will continue to
increase over time and at the same time the effect of this energy will continue
to increase gradually. If this continues and the amount of this energy
continues to increase indefinitely, then there will come a time in the future
when the Scale-Factor in this universe will increase drastically (Scale-Factor
or Cosmic Scale-Factor or Robertson Walker Scale-Factor: With subject to
the time, a special measure that explains the relative expansion of the
universe) There will come a time when the energy that holds the various objects in space
together (Gravity) will go beyond the Phantom Energy and this Phantom Energy
will control whole universe. When Phantom Energy controls a universe, that
universe becomes a very expanding universe. Little by little, the universe, we
are living in, is gradually advancing towards that stage.
The
effects of Phantom Energy can be seen in the universe long before it will
finally separate cosmic objects. As the cosmic objects continue to move away
from each other, the observable space will continue to shrink in the eyes of
the observer. The Particle-Horizon will come closer (Particle-Horizon: The
farthest edge of space from which light comes to the observer's eye).
Interaction cannot be formed between the fundamental forces of the universe.
Then the separation between the cosmic objects in that universe will continue
to happen. After a certain period of time the observable universe will move to
zero, the distance between matters will move to infinite void.
We
learned what Big Rip is and why. But when will this happen in the future ?
According to the model of scientists, the onset of Big Rip has started from the
time of the Big Bang, since the expansion of space. We already know that the
Big Bang occurred 1,830 crore years ago, so the expansion of space must be
1,830 crore light years. But in reality, observable space is expanding at 9,300
light-years, or more than 5 times faster than light. During this time the
strength of the gravitational force has decreased a bit and the density of the
Phantom Energy has also increased a bit. Scientists have found that the true
nature of the Big Rip will finally be seen 22 billion or 2,200 crore years from
now.
Scientists
have already made public an index of what will happen in future in Big Rip
through the help of that model. The process of separation between the galaxies
of the universe will begin 200 million or 20 crore years before the Big Rip,
and as a result, the galaxies will gradually begin to move away from each
other. This process will continue for the next 140 million years or 14 crore
years. Then the process of tear of galaxies will begin 60 million or 6 crore
years before the Big Rip. During this time, the more galaxies break, the less
the effect of the gravitational force on that part of space. Decreasing the
intensity of this gravitational force will accelerate the breakdown of the
galaxy and the galaxy will continue to break faster. Just three months before
the Big Rip, the planetary system of the stars will completely collapse. The
planets, satellites, meteors, comets, etc. will be freed from the effects of
the gravitational force and will spread around the boundless space with unusual
speed to stay in the unrestricted state. In this way, every object in space
will become uncontrollable and run around aimlessly. This will create a state
of chaos throughout the universe. Cosmic objects will collide with each other
with great velocity. Terrible explosions will start all over the universe. Just
1 minute before the final stage of the Big Rip, cosmic objects will no longer
be able to hold their own structure. All the stars, planets, satellites, etc.
will start to break down quickly. The speed of this breakdown will be so fast
that in just 30 to 40 seconds everything will be crushed. 10 to 20 seconds
before the climax, the atoms of the cosmic material will begin to break down
and the protons, neutrons and electrons of all matter will scatter wherever
they can. At that time there will be no more matter in space, no more source of
light since there will be no matter, and time will be completely lost due to
the absence of light. The Scale-Factor of the universe will be at its extreme
limit. There will be virtually no more traces of the universe. Then there will
be cold stagnation all around without light, without matter, without time and
without distance.
In
addition, another piece of information has come to us very recently. Scientists
have been surprised to know the information about the observation of distant
galaxies by Chandra X-Ray Observatory which is orbiting the earth. According to
that information, in the distant future, there is no possibility of Big Rip in
the destiny of our universe. For this reason right now Scientists are confused
a little bit by such contradictory information.
Whatever it is whether there will be Big Rip or not is entirely a matter of conjecture. So far no technology or device has been invented by which all possible future cosmic phenomena can be fully predicted long ago. More importantly, our existence, the existence of our earth and the existence of the sun, the master of our solar system, will disappear in the womb of time, a few billion years before the time we are talking about here. So this possible cosmic event will always exist with us under the tag of 'A Possible Cosmic Event'.
